So, How Was Your Slinky Day? Check Out Some WTF Slinky Videos…

Slinky Day

August 30th is Slinky Day–and that’s always a good excuse to revert to your childhood with the best toy that you’ve ever had. In fact, Ghostbusters is on the big screen as part of its 30th anniversary celebrations this weekend, which means people are paying good money to watch Egon Spengler reminiscing about straightening out his Slinky as a child.

These ubiquitous metal springs were a phenomenon when they were first introduced in 1943. Since then, over 300 million Slinkys have been sold, and it’s hard to imagine anyone’s childhood without one. The simple joy of watching a Slinky make its way down a flight of stairs was one of the great joys of childhood, and even though they would typically last roughly 47 minutes before getting hopelessly tangled, there’s no denying the happiness they delivered.

As we’ve reached a modern age, with modern devices, Slinky’s simplicity makes it an enduring classic, and a staple of your own children’s birthday party goody bags. Slinkys have been put to interesting use in a number of viral videos, so let’s take a look at some of the best, funniest, and certainly strangest Slinky related videos to celebrate this glorious day…
