Lollapalooza 2014, Day One: Arctic Monkeys, Lykke Li and More [VIDEOS]

Lollapalooza 2014 opened last night, and it’s shaping up to be another one for the record books. Unfortunately there are zero quality videos of Eminem & Rihanna‘s epic set that included “Monster,” “Love the Way You Lie,” and “Stan.” Every single video that’s available–and there are a bunch–either feature terrible sound quality, or some drunk d-bag closing the camera while singing along. The Guardian sent a professional crew along to the show to livestream certain bands, however, so some of the MainStage acts got decent coverage.

Lorde took the Bud Light Stage at 6:45pm Chicago time and did an eleven song set that included all ten tracks off her first album “Pure Heroine,” as well as a solo version of “Easy,” the song she recorded with Son Lux. But of course, she brought the house down with a live version of her #1 smash hit “Royals”…

Forty five minutes later, Lykke Li took the Lakeshore stage and rocked a twelve song setlist that included her hit song “Just Like A Dream” off her newest album, “I Never Learn,” and set the crowd ablaze when she sampled Drake’s “Started From the Bottom”…

Closing out the Bud Light Stage for the evening was Arctic Monkeys, who took the stage at 8:30pm and played a ninety minute, 17 song set that included a three song encore. One of the highlights was their performance of “Crying Lightning” off their third album “Humbug”…
