Ashanti on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” [SEE HER TONIGHT]

Ashanti onĀ Law & Order: Special Victims Unit

(9:00 PM EST, NBC)

Frankly, this has been a pretty disappointing Sweeps Week. Lesbianism has been at an all-time low, and we haven’t gotten splashy guest stars on the level of, say, Lindsay Lohan. Preferably playing a lesbian. And we will not pretend that it’s a big deal to have Ashanti on the small screen. She’s already been a regular on Army Wives–but tonight’s episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is an American Idol-themed tale of pop star creepiness, so it’s pretty promising to have the pop diva show up in the episode.

Also, people tend to forget that Ashanti is freakin’ hot. Sometimes in freaky ways. Maybe we take her for granted because her career goes way back to 2001–but that was when she was hanging out with gangsta types like Irv Gotti and recording for Murder, Inc. That means Ashanti has been around long enough to be on the soundtrack for the first Fast and the Furious film. Ashanti never matched the success of her debut single, but “Foolish” was huge enough to establish her to the point that…well, she’s a big name for Sweeps Week. Check out her following on Twitter, too.

Her musical career suffered from too much early hype. Things were also falling apart at her label. Ashanti probably should’ve become more wild over the years. Instead, she sort of settled down–but these hot pics prove that Ashanti still is packing plenty of sexiness into her persona. She’ll release BraveHeart as her fifth album early next year, and it has Ashanti working with folks like Busta Rhymes and R. Kelly. That doesn’t suggest family-friendly fare. These photos, however, will get you feeling very friendly about Ashanti busting into your living room tonight…
