Learn From This Dude: Hot Dog Vendor Defends Mustard Over Ketchup [Video]

The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council agrees: “Don’t use ketchup on your hot dog after the age of 18.”

Charley Marcuse, famous among Detroit Tigers’ fans for being the singing hot dog vendor at Comerica Park, was fired last week. The reason for his firing may shock hot dog purists everywhere. Marcuse may have been fired because loves mustard and hates ketchup.

Although Marcuse said that he was let go for “general employee conduct,” it seems ketchup was the catalyst. Many hot dog fanatics believe only mustard should be put on a hot dog, and Marcuse is one of them. Marcuse would occasionally argue with customers who wanted ketchup, and complaints may have been filed.

Sure, maybe the customer is always right, but does that still apply if they disagree with the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council? Marcuse has filed a grievance, and we wish him the best.

We’re not saying that you should get fired from your job, but you should have a passion in your life and fight for what you believe in. And you shouldn’t be putting mustard on a hot dog.
