We Kicked It At The 2013 Steve Nash Soccer Showdown In Chinatown [PHOTOS]

Last night was the Steve Nash Showdown in Chinatown that we’ve been so excited about. With lots of stars, goals, passing and laughs, the match was everything we were hoping for. Proceeds from the ticket sales and charity auction went towards The Steve Nash Foundation, an organization dedicated to assisting underserved children.

As far as celebrities and athletes are concerned, here’s who strapped on the boots and played:

Team USA:
Joakim Noah | Sacha Kljestan | Sammy Amoebi

Oguchi Onyewu | Richie Williams | Stuart Holden

Marc Stein | Mike Marino

Team World:
Steve Nash | Simone Sandri | Massimo Ambrosini

Marco Bellinelli | Giuseppe Rossi | Emmerson Boyce

Alessandro Savelli | Giovanni Bartocci

That’s right folks, for the first time ever Showdown fans were treated to a “USA vs. The World” matchup. And while Sammy Amoebi had to step into American shoes for the day (filling in for someone), we were more than happy to have him as the Newcastle United winger was responsible for the first (and only) hat-trick of the match.

Equally impressive was Team World player Giuseppe Rossi who’s still to this day trying to rub it into American soccer fans that he chose to play for Italy instead of the US.

MVP of the match was Joakim Noah who (despite being a Chicago Bull) was easily the fan favorite. After finally getting a goal in the last few minutes, the 6-11 center ran all around the circumference of the field screaming. Even I was laughing. As a prize, he was presented with a Girard-Perregaux (who helped sponsor the event) watch.

By the time the final whistle had blown, Team USA wound up beating Team World 9-7.

One of the best events of the summer hands down, yet again. And if you’re in Los Angeles the good news is that you’ve got one coming your way 7/14/2013.
