Saturday Cocktail: Russian Standard Fresh Prince

These are the legs of the Russian Standard girls. Their owners want you to try this cocktail.

Here at COED, we pretty much only talk about beer and whiskey because we’re red-blooded Americans who like burping, ulcers, and jail time as much as we love our flag. But we get down with other alcohols from time to time, including vodka.

Vodka is Russia’s signature alcohol and was the official sports drink of the 1980 Moscow Summer Olympics. The Russians know that a good night of vodka drinking will make you bold enough to start your own business, or even your own religion. Thus, Russian Standard Vodka is holding a contest in which the person with the best entrepreneurial idea wins $10,000 to help get that idea off the ground.

You can enter here, but know that if you win that money, they won’t let you just run up a killer bar tab with it. You have to do something cool.

In the meantime, here’s our first Saturday Cocktail, the “Standard Fresh Prince,” featuring Russian Standard Vodka. Enjoy this during an epic pre-game, a barbecue, or just at work.

2 oz. Russian Standard Original
½ oz. key lime juice
½ oz. simple syrup
6 mint leaves
2 cucumber slices

Muddle mint leaves, cucumber slices and simple syrup in shaker. Add other ingredients and shake with ice. Strain into rocks glass with ice. Garnish with fresh mint and cucumber.
