Well, awkward among his fellow correspondents.

British funnyman Jon Oliver has been with The Daily Show since 2006 and is taking over for Jon Stewart until September 3rd. Stewart is taking the summer off to direct his first film, Rosewater, overseas in the Middle East.

Oliver started off the night by acknowledging the awkwardness by saying, “I am John Oliver and let’s all just acknowledge for a moment that this is weird. This looks weird. It feels weird. It even sounds weird.”

But even through the weirdness and chastising from his fellow workers, Oliver managed to put together a stellar show that concluded with an interview with Seth Rogan.

We think the veteran of the show will do just fine throughout the summer. If not, well, there’s always The Colbert Report.
