How many bands landed with as big a splash as the German krautrock band Neu! The first song on their first album (also called Neu!) is a 10 minute psychedelic epic that is deceptively both simple and complicated. Without a single word and what at often seems like not even a chord change, “Hallogallo” grabs hold of you with a steady drum pulse that seems to lock in with your body as the trippy lead guitar takes control of your head. Find yourself a couch (and maybe some grass), lay down, and let the entire album Neu! take you on a ride. But, of course, start at the beginning with “Hallogallo.”
Enjoyable piano riffs and catchy lyrics have solidified “Coastin” as one of my favorite summer rap songs. It’s got no real lasting value in hip-hop lore but a fun song that requires little brainwork is exactly what I need to hear right now.
