Mike’s Pick

Is there any rock song title better than “Good Booze & Bad Women”? And is there any classic rock band more underrated than Humble Pie? In his heyday, Humble Pie frontman Steve Marriott did classic Rolling Stones better than The Rolling Stones even did, and this bluesy rocker is a perfect example. Unfortunately, the band’s 1973 double LP Eat It (where this tune appears) heralded in the end of Humble Pie’s classic period, but if you want to hear astoundingly underappreciated rock music, work your way backwards from this record through the group’s entire catalog.

Wyatt’s Pick

I’ve been on a big disco binge lately–just without all the fun parts like tight pants, Ecstasy, and sunglasses. This new track by Chris Malinchak “So Good To Me” for all intents and purposes is pretty representative of a genre of music that will just put you in a better mood no matter what the situation. Yes it’s a little cheesy and not as good as “Deal ‘Em“, (but nothing really is) but good luck getting this one out of your head. Xylophones have never gotten me so wet.
