When we think of casinos, our first thought is inevitably Las Vegas. And while Sin City remains the top gambling destination in the United States, folks should keep in mind that they can find casinos in over half the states in the country, including one Atlantic City! Nicknamed “America’s Playground,” Atlantic City has long been the second most sought out destination for the American gambler. All the casinos here offer most of the same amenities as Las Vegas with the added bonus of a gorgeous beach and an iconic boardwalk. With the summer fast approaching, take a look at our top five casino destinations when vacationing at Atlantic City!
5) Trump Taj Mahal
Featured in the movie Rounders, the Taj has turned into a must-stop locale for poker players from all over the world. With the biggest poker room in Atlantic City, seeing top pros mixing it up on the tables is quite common. In addition, the table games and slot areas are enormous; players should have no trouble finding the games they desire.
The Casbah nightclub is a popular destination for the twenty-something crowd, and many new restaurants have been added to enhance the Taj experience.
The Trop used to be a locals house with not much else to offer but a huge casino and access to the beach and boardwalk. But over the last decade, the addition of The Quarter has turned the Tropicana into a destination that can’t be missed. With phenomenal restaurants and bars and an old-time Havana feel, The Quarter makes you forget you’re in Atlantic City.
For the younger crowd, the hotel is home to the nightclub Providence. The Quarter boasts the area’s only IMAX theater and the Comedy Stop is one of the best comedy clubs in the city for laughs. Lastly, the poker room at the Trop has become one of the most popular in A.C. and the gaming area is still huge, offering everything a gambler could ask for.
3) Caesars Palace
Located right smack in the middle of the boardwalk, Caesars is a longtime favorite for Atlantic City patrons. With a huge casino that spills out onto the boardwalk, the gambler is well taken care of. Along with plenty of tables and slots, the poker room and racebook are among the best in the city.
A new nightclub, Dusk, has become one of the hottest clubs in the city as well. What puts Caesars over the top as a true destination is the addition of The Pier – an impressive three-story shopping mall that juts out over the ocean. With numerous high-end shopping options and a top floor filled with incredible restaurants and views, The Pier is a must-see on your next A.C. trip.
Located in the Marina district, Harrah’s has turned itself into a premier destination for gamblers of all ages. They added lots of slots and table games (including a pit with scantily clad dealers) and the poker room recently underwent a make-over.
The brand new Waterfront Tower boasts an amazing light display that can be seen for miles and overlooks Harrah’s Pool – which is one of the most versatile attractions in Atlantic City.
During the day, the indoor pool is a lush, peaceful paradise with hot tubs and a high-end spa. At night, The pool turns into an incredible night club with private cabanas and lines that wind through the casino with eager patrons waiting to party!
Since opening in 2003, Borgata has been outclassing many of Atlantic City’s finest casinos and it’s right on par with the top Vegas casinos. Borgata offers the total package for the gambler looking for a good time. The slots are consistently rated the best in the city, with the newest and hottest slots added regularly. Borgata goes out of its way to cater to the table games patron which sets them apart from the rest of the city, where others tend to be more slot-friendly.
Featuring two night clubs, Borgata is the top destination for young patrons with cash to spend. The restaurants are top of the line and the new Water Club tower has somehow added an even more high-end feel. The Borgata has it all and players would be remiss not to experience it on their next A.C. trip.
