TV This Week: Dinner, Dancing, and Disasters

This week’s television schedule is jam-packed with goodies for the discerning viewer. Here are a few of the tasty morsels available just for you!

Aftermath – National Geographic Channel – Monday, April 5, 9 p.m. (ET)

This is the first of four speculative specials that examine what would happen were certain catastrophes to occur. In this one, the world stops spinning. Dancing With the Stars is also focusing on catastrophes tonight, with Kate Gosselin dancing the Paso Doble.

Lost – ABC – Tuesday, April 6, 9 p.m. (ET)

This episode finds Desmond back on the island and Charlie, Daniel Faraday, Eloise Hawking back on the show. Apparently the island’s draw is so strong, it pulls people back from the dead AND from FlashForward (Dominic Monaghan and Sonya Walger).

How the States Got Their Shapes – History Channel – Tuesday, April 6, 9 p.m. (ET)

This special answers many of the most pressing questions regarding the dimensions of our 50 states. Why is Florida the penis of the U.S.? Why is Northern Michigan not part of the great state of Wisconsin even though it is clearly supposed to be? Why are the Western states so boxy? (Something tells me a cookie cutter was involved).

Peep ShowBBC America – Wednesday, April 7, 9 p.m. (ET)

Season 3 premiere (for Americans…Brits are way past it). This British sitcom follows two men and their relationships. The point-of-view camera work will make you, too, feel like an awkward protagonist. But don’t be disappointed that this series isn’t actually about a peep show, nor does it have anything to do with marshmallow treats.

That Mitchell and Webb Look – BBC America – Wednesday, April 7, 9:30 p.m. (ET)

Season 3 American premiere. This sketch comedy show features the boys from Peep Show.

Real World/Road Rules Challenge – MTV – Wednesday, April 7, 10 p.m. (ET)

Premiere of “Fresh Meat II”. Rookies and veterans compete in Vancouver. It looks like things have really gone down hill for Vancouver since the Olympics. Clearly, Scotty Lago wasn’t the dirtiest thing to hit Vancouver this year.

Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew – MTV – Thursday, April 8, 10 p.m. (ET)

The fifth season finale brings back all nine crews. There will probably be dancing.

Mega PiranhaSyfy – Saturday, April 10, 9 p.m. (ET)

This Syfy original movie follows a giant piranha that makes its way from the Amazon River to Florida. It’s like Finding Nemo with razor sharp teeth…and less realism.

Treme – HBO – Sunday, April 11, 10 p.m. (ET)

Series premiere. This drama is about post-Katrina New Orleans. Sadly, Co-Executive Producer/Writer David Mills passed away in late March.

TiVo Alert

Top Chef Masters – Bravo – Wednesday, April 7, 11 p.m. (ET)

Second season premiere. In this episode, the chefs make aphrodisiacal dinners. TiVo it and study up.

What Your Girlfriend’s Watching

Christian Siriano: Having a Moment – Bravo – Monday, April 5, 10 p.m. (ET)

This special follows the former Project Runway star as he manages his line, prepares for a runway show, and interacts with celebrities (including Tori Spelling). Ladies can’t resist this little cutting room nymph. He’s adorable.

Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood – Oxygen – Monday, April 5, 10 p.m. (ET)

Season 5 premiere. The family goes on an RV trip. Tori Spelling is all over the airwaves tonight. Be warned.

Basketball WivesVH1 – Sunday, April 11, 10 p.m. (ET)

Series premiere. This series follows current and former basketball wives. It’s the perfect way for a woman to acquire unrealistically high expectations.
