21 Reasons Why This Week Won’t Suck [July 3–8]

Is a national holiday enough to make sure a week doesn't suck? No. It is not. A national holiday like the Fourth of July is certainly good, but that's not the only thing getting COED employees through another week. We also need classic grindhouse sexploitation, and some good new metal and pop and hip-hop albums, along with a UFC championship and major-league poker playing. Good thing we have all that--and we want to share the stuff that keeps us going...

Chuck Brown, RIP: Some Go-Go Music from the Gone-Gone Godfather [VIDEO]

Go-go music was kind of a failed genre back in the '80s. Part of the problem was that everyone was trying to catch up to Chuck Brown. He was already the Godfather of Go-Go back then, thanks to his groundbreaking work with the Soul Searchers in the '70s. We're truly bummed to learn the 75-year-old soulster passed away today. Check out Brown's timeless sound now, and get out to a go-go tonight.

Fat Joe Says It’s OK For White Kids To Drop N-Bombs [VIDEO]

So it's been a "minute" since Fat Joe was in the news again but the dude has lost some weight. Granted, when your name is Fat Joe and you actually live up the namesake, the term "some weight" is relative. Joe's still a big dude, but he recently gave the "skinny" on VladTV about the N-Bomb. When asked about it's usage, Fat Joe responded that anyone [read: white kids] should be able to use the word. I know that makes a lot of suburbia happy, but I would be pretty careful about trying this one out in public. Does Fat Joe really feel this way or is he just trying to get publicity? Check the interview for his reasoning after the jump and leave your feelings in the comment section.

Saigon Tells Us The Greatest Story Never Told [INTERVIEW]

The journey from real-life street thug - with six years in the slammer - to reel-life rap gangsta - on HBO's Entourage - was a learning experience, not a glamorous fairy tale for the artist known as Saigon. His talent for hip-hop later garnered attention from Atlantic Records, plus helped land him a recurring role on the hit HBO series. But a disinterest in making pop records and a controversial physical altercation with another well known rapper would eventually grind the release of his touted debut full length record to a complete halt. Read our full interview the up-and-coming rap star after the jump!

7 Hip Hop Albums You Haven’t Listened To Yet

Hip Hop, it's some of the best music on Earth. Not to be confused with rap, which dominates the airwaves and is rife with bad lyrics, dance instructions and outrageously lavish music videos (where most high priced items are rented and the money's fake). Here are seven albums that truly define how Hip Hop should sound. If you HAVE heard these albums, spread the love. Run and tell that!

Hot Summer Music: 5 Questions with the Dirty Heads

When talking about the surf, sun, sand and sounds of summer - having plenty of smokin' hot tunes are absolutely necessary to solidify the perfect season. Listen Up: Matchstik

Rappers often tell first-person stories based on what they, or those around them, have experienced. Typically the case, and as any gangsta rap connoisseur would know, the tales involve violence, drugs, respect and once in a while... redemption.

When Did Rap Get So Dumb?

It's hard to remember the days when rap used to actually be hardcore. Not only have the lyrics gotten increasingly stupid, but once-dangerous trigger-happy rappers are now just waiting to be beat up by some former fan who spends too much lifting weights at the gym. Undecided on whether rap has lost all credibily? Just watch this insanely lame video of the whitest kids ever trying to rap.

Rapping: Know Your Limits [Video]

In America, you're often told from a young age that you can be anything you want to be. What they don't tell you is that sometimes you might suck at what you want to be. And in that case, it's probably best to not make a video documenting exactly that.
