The Premier League 2016-2017 season kicked off yesterday, but unquestionably the biggest game of the weekend takes place today between Arsenal and Leicester City.
Leicester, who were miracle champions two seasons ago, came crashing down to Earth last year, finishing in 11th place. Arsenal, on the other hand, is going into their 21st season led by manager Arsene Wenger, who is the club’s longest-serving manager and most successful in terms of major titles won. However, the Gunners finished in 5th place last season, their first time outside the top four in 20 years.
The 2017–18 Premier League is the 26th season of the Premier League, the top English professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1992. The season kicks off on August 11, 2017, and will last until May 13, 2018.
Antonio Conte’s Chelsea side are the defending champions, with Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion and Huddersfield Town being promoted from the Football League Championship. Rounding out the top four from last season, are Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, and Liverpool.
