Reports are coming in of shots fired on the campus of UNLV at the Public Safety Building. Emergency personnel are responding to the scene and students are advised to remain indoors.
UPDATE: UNLV has provided updated information on the incident:
The driver of the car firing shots has fled the scene.
UNLV Police services tweeted that gun shots have been reported near the Public Safety Building. That building is located on Harmon Avenue between Swenson Street and Maryland Parkway.
The school advises all in the area to remain inside. Emergency personnel are responding to the scene.
UNLV has said that the campus is reportedly secure at this time but will remain under lockdown as a precaution.
Students attending in-session summer classes on campus are warned to avoid the library area. The school’s emergency system is also sending out warnings to students and faculty.
There was a false alarm at UNLV last year regarding a similar situation, however, this incident appears to be genuine.
The campus is under lockdown as emergency personnel investigate. It is unknown if anyone has been injured or killed.
