State Capitol Campus Lockdown: Full Story & Must-See Details

The Washington State Capitol campus in Olympia is on lockdown for police activity. Authorities are currently searching for an active shooter and citizens and employees are being advised to remain indoors.

UPDATE: The lockdown at State Capitol Campus has been lifted.

What Happened?

An active shooter was reportedly heard firing rounds on the east Capitol Campus, prompting the lockdown.

Several troopers have responded to the scene and are searching for a man reportedly armed with a rifle in the area of the state Department of Natural Resources, state Department of Licensing and Office Building 2.

Workers in the area have been evacuated as a precaution.

Thurston County Sheriff’s Office and Olympia police are also on the scene.

The public is being advised to avoid the Capitol campus until further notice.

No injuries have been reported.
