Grunge rock icon Chris Cornell passed away Wednesday night at the age of 52. But hours before he died, Soundgarden performed at the Fox Theatre in Detroit. Many videos have popped up on YouTube, showing the world Chris Conrell’s very last live performance.
Soundgarden should be displayed on the Mount Rushmore of the ’90s grunge culture. Hopefully, an artist out there will read this article and create their own Grunge Rushmore.
Cornell has provided many great songs and moments to the world of music. It’s a shame that he’s left this Earth. But we are all blessed with the wonderful works that he’s left behind. He was the lead singer of Soundgarden and Audioslave, who had been a living embodiment of American rock music since the early 1980s, in one way or another.
The very last song Chris Cornell will ever sing is “Slaves and Bulldozers” from the 1991 album Badmotorfinger. Soundgarden performed this song at the Fox Theatre on May 17th, 2017. Shortly afterwards, Cornell passed away.
Rest in peace, Chris Cornell. You left us with a treasure trove of nostalgic, timeless wonder.
