Colorado Teacher Put On Leave After Taping Student’s Mouth Shut

A Colorado middle school teacher has been placed on leave after allegedly taping one of her eighth-grade students’ mouth shut.

Cherry Creek School District officials say the incident happened during a science class last week on Wednesday, April 26 at Campus Middle School. The student’s mouth was either taped shut by the teacher herself or a fellow student who was given permission to do so.

Tustin Amole, a spokeswoman for the Cherry Creek School District, said that the unidentified teacher was placed on administrative leave until the investigation is complete.

“As soon as we learned of the allegations, we notified the Greenwood Village Police Department,” Amole said.

Amole also said that the CCSD district notified the student’s parents, who she said were unaware of the incident.

“We are continuing to investigate, as we have received conflicting reports of what happened. The incident is deeply troubling and does not reflect the values of the Cherry Creek School District. We are committed to ensuring that our schools provide a safe and caring environment for all students,” Amole said.
