Jennifer Frechette, 44, is a married drama teacher at Wilbur Cross High School in Connecticut and a mother. She was arrested after being found with a 15-year-old male student in a dressing room.
What Happened?
Frechette is accused of having sex with one of her students after they were allegedly found in a dressing room with a blow up bed, tea light candles and condoms at Wilbur Cross High School.
Frechette was arrested and charged with second-degree sex assault, fourth-degree sex assault and risk of injury to a minor on April 13. Frechette was released after posting a $100,000 surety bond on Monday. She was photographed walking hand-in-hand with her husband to court in New Haven.
According to an arrest warrant (via WFSB), two security officers caught Frechette with the underage student in a dressing room. Officials say the teen left but Frechette appeared to be hiding “in a fetal position.”
“Also in the room on the floor were battery operated ‘tea light’ candles, a mat that was made to look like a bed with pillows, a quilt, and a ‘Beats’ headphone case that contained several unused condoms,” the warrant said.
Frechette denied any wrong doing at first, but the teen told investigators that the pair had exchanged text messages discussing sex and planned to do so the night they were caught.
The teen admitted back in December that Frechette had performed oral sex on him on a couch in her classroom.
She was placed on administrative leave once the school became aware of the alleged inappropriate relationship in January.
Police filed search warrants for Frechette’s and the student’s phones. They found text conversations that discussed sexual intercourse, oral sex and how she was no longer attracted to her husband.
School officials are in the process of firing Frechette.
“The care and safety of students is the top priority for New Haven Public School,” Interim Superintendent of Schools Reginald Mayo said in a statement.
“A breach of that responsibility by any staff member is cause for concern. The arrest of a New Haven teacher on allegations of sexual assault and risk of injury is deeply troubling.”
