Spears kicked off her career in the public eye back in 1992 as a contestant on the competition show Star Search. Though she didn’t win, she did parlay that exposure into a role on Disney’s The All-New Mickey Mouse Club alongside Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera.

Soon, Spears would begin building up her music career.

In 1998, Spears released her first single “Baby One More Time.” The song immediately launched the singer into the stratosphere of celebrity, selling more than 500,000 copies in its first day. In 1999, she won a slew of Billboard Awards including: New Artist of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Female Albums Artist of the Year and Female Singles Albums of the Year.

In the ensuing years, Spears would rise to the absolute top of the music industry. She still holds the record for the best-selling teenage artist.

Six of her seven albums have reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts, making her the youngest female artist to ever accomplish this. Over her two-decade career, she has sold more than 100 million records.

Spears began performing her Las Vegas show “Britney: Piece of Me” at Planet Hollywood in 2013. In 2015, she re-signed with the show for two more years and $35 million. She also released her 20th fragrance through Elizabeth Arden and a game with Glu Mobile.

All told, Spears’ musical and acting career combined with her long-reaching merchandise add up to a lucrative $200 million net worth.
