Washington D.C. police are investigating after a person was shot near a D.C. elementary school.

What Happened?

At least one person has been shot near D.C.’s Benjamin Orr Elementary School. The shooting took place shortly before 9 A.M. EST on the 2200 block of Minnesota Avenue in the South East. At least one male victim was found on the scene. The school is currently on lockdown.

Authorities say the victim is in “grave condition.” The shooter is still at large and D.C. Police released the following description.

What Is Orr Elementary School?

Orr Elementary School services students ranging from Pre-kindergarten to fifth grade. It is located in Southeast D.C. Orr Elementary School offers a core curriculum and teaches Social Studies and Science while also providing students the opportunity to participate in an arts program, library media center, music, computer, art, foreign language, and physical education classes.
