The 2017 Summit League Tournament’s championship is set, as #4 South Dakota State and #3 Omaha have earned the right to face off for an automatic bid to the big dance. The Jackrabbits have been making it to March Madness on a regular basis recently, making appearances at the 2012, 2013, and 2016 NCAA Tournaments.

The Jackrabbits finished tied for 4th in the Summit League after posting an 8-8 record in conference play. To get to the championship game, they beat #5 Denver 83-73 in the quarterfinals and #1 South Dakota 74-71 in dramatic fashion in the semifinals.
The Mavericks finished in 3rd place in the Summit League, going 9-7 in conference play. Their road to the championship game wasn’t quite as intense, as they prevailed over #6 Fort Wayne 84-80 in the quarterfinals and #7 IUPUI 90-62 in the semifinals.
In the regular season, Omaha and South Dakota State split their two-game series. The Mavericks beat the Jackrabbits at their place 101-93, and South Dakota State got revenge with an 88-84 road win.
