The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Clemson Tigers face off in a rematch of last year’s national championship in tonight’s College Football Playoff Championship. The Tide, 14-0, got to the season’s final game by defeating the Washington Huskies 24-7 in the Peach Bowl. As for the Tigers, they cruised to a 31-0 victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Fiesta Bowl to set up the rematch of last year’s epic battle! Nick Saban’s Tide are six point favorites over Dabo Sweeney’s Tigers.
Both programs are led by dual threat quarterbacks. Alabama’s Jalen Hurts, can become the second ever true freshman to quarterback a National Championship. Meanwhile, back-to-back Heisman finalist Deshaun Watson is looking for revenge after last year’s 45-40 loss in the national championship. If Alabama wins tonight, it will be their second title in a row, and will be their fifth championship in 8 years, all with coach Nick Saban. On the other hand, Clemson has just one national championship in it’s history from 1981. Clemson had an undefeated 2015 season going into last year’s championship game and then lost to Alabama. This year, the tables are turned, and it’s Alabama coming into the season’s final game with a perfect record.
