The world was wondering how Ronda Rousey would do in her return to the UFC last night. And after a hiatus that lasted more than a year, it didn’t take long to see that it wouldn’t end well for the former UFC Bantamweight Champion against current titleholder Amanda Nunes.
Rousey was the betting favorite, and optimists believed her loss to Holly Holm last November would refocus and motivate her to reclaim the throne. Contrarily, skeptics suspected that suffering such a traumatic loss to Holm would erode Rousey’s psychological edge and that Nunes would be difficult to beat.
But even the biggest cynics couldn’t have foreseen just how hapless Rousey would be. After Nunes battered Rousey with little resistance from the get-go, referee Herb Dean mercifully ended the fight after a mere 48 seconds.
And just like that, it looks like Ronda Rousey’s fighting career may be over after this beatdown.
