This contest is one of three highly anticipated games in the third edition of the College Football Playoff. Two years ago, Ohio State beat No. 1 Alabama as a four seed and eventually went on to win the 2015 College Football National Championship Game. Quarterback J.T. Barrett was a member of that squad, and he and (No. 3) Ohio State will have another crack at primetime as they’ll square off with Heisman Trophy finalist Deshaun Watson and the (No. 2) Clemson Tigers. The winner will move on to the title game where they’ll face the winner of No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 Washington.
Both the Buckeyes and the Tigers bring experienced head coaches, as Urban Meyer has two national titles to his name while Dabo Swinney made a championship appearance against Alabama last season. Expect both teams to be well prepared come New Year’s Eve, potentially highlighting the most entertaining game of the three CFP games.
