With Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, and a new Call of Duty all being released this past fall, there was plenty of FPS competition this season. Throw in the fact that another team-based shooter, Overwatch, just won the title of “game of the year” and Doom is officially back in the fray, it seems 2016 is truly the year of the shooter.
While all of these great titles are fantastic for gamers, most of us don’t have the expendable income (or the free time) to buy and play all of them. Unfortunately for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare developer, Infinity Ward, that notion is all too real. With the sales of Infinite Warfare down nearly fifty-percent on Black Ops 3, publisher Activision is trying to boost its player-base as they head into the Christmas season.
Starting December 15, PS4 and Xbox One owners will have the opportunity to play much of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s content without having to purchase the game for themselves. The event will last for five days and players will have access to the first two missions of the main campaign, multiplayer and Zombies mode. Though multiplayer levels will be capped at fifteen and Zombies will be capped at three, all progress earned during the free time will carry over if the full game is purchased.
PS4 and Xbox One owners will need the full 60GB of hard drive space for the Infinite Warfare install as well as a Playstation Plus or Xbox Live Gold account for the online multiplayer.
Activision has posted a FAQ for any and all questions regarding the free weekend.
The Free Trial starts on December 15, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. PT / 6:00 P.M. GMT and ends on December 20, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. PT / 6:00 P.M. GMT.
