Miss COED 2017 Semifinalist, Ashton Waller Hopes To Climb Mount Kilimanjaro & Head To Med School. In Other News, I’ve Done Nothing With My Life

Ashton Waller

At 20 years old, most people are still trying to figure out what the hell life is and what they’re supposed to do with it. Yet that’s certainly not the case for Miss COED 2017 semifinalist, Ashton Waller.

The 20 year old sophomore at Florida State University has already set more goals than most people have in their lifetime. Ashton is studying Biology and Psychology and minoring in Chemistry, Mathematics, German, and Business. YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT. She’s smart AF. Not only is she in multiple honor societies, but she also wants to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and get into medical school after graduation. Plus, while most people are heading to Miami or Cancun for Spring Break, she wants to explore the Raja Ampat Islands in Indonesia. In case anyone was wondering, I’ve apparently done nothing with my life.

Get to know more about Ashton below, and be sure to check back daily as we get to know each of our Miss COED 2017 conference finalists a bit better.

If you could travel anywhere in the world for Spring Break, where would you go?

If I could travel anywhere in the world for Spring Break, it would be to the Raja Ampat Islands in Indonesia. The islands alone are breathtaking. It would take several dozens of trips to visit every beautiful site there is to see. There are ancient artwork in the caves, and limestone cliffs. There is a green clothed rock that overlooks the island and the jaw-dropping crystal blue sea. In addition to the island, the ocean is incredible. One of my favorite hobbies is scuba diving. The Raja Ampat Islands is the best place in the world to scuba dive.

Name one thing on your bucket list.

One task on my bucket list is hiking Mount Kilimanjaro. When I finish with school, every year I plan to take an adventure and mark something off my bucket list. This one in particular is my favorite because it is the world’s tallest walkable mountain, and it is the highest mountain in Africa. You go through five different climate zones to reach the top. There are many precautions you have to take in order to climb the mountain and maintain good health. The change in altitude makes in difficult for someone to climb without prior preparation.

Cliché, but where do you see yourself in five years? Ready, set, go!

In five years, I intend to be be working on my residency in medical school. My goal is to attend Vanderbilt University School of Medicine after I complete my undergraduate at Florida State University. I love Nashville and just Tennessee in general. I am not a huge fan of cities, and even though Nashville is a city, it still has a country feel to it.
