Kanye West has reportedly been hospitalized in Los Angeles after what has been a bit of a bizarre week for the rapper.

What happened?

According to NBC Los Angeles, a source close to West called for medical intervention on his behalf at around 1:20 P.M., with paramedics responding. TMZ reports that West was not at home at the time. No criminal or illegal activity was cited as the cause of the call and West is now under the care of medical professionals for the decision of maintaining his health and safety, with the treatment being accredited to exhaustion and stress. Technically. West is being placed under a psychiatric hold.

West recently shocked fans with some very unpredictable behavior, admonishing former friends Beyonce and Jay Z, as well as making some racially charged statements and saying he would have voted for President-elect Donald Trump. The series of events ended with West canceling his Saint Pablo tour, which still had several dates left.

One might be wondering where Kanye West’s wife, Kim Kardashian West, falls in this unfortunate saga. Kardashian is rumored to actually be making her red carpet debut tonight at the Annual Angel Ball in New York City, at which her father, Robert, is receiving a posthumous honor. No word yet on Kardashian.

This is a breaking story. We will be updating this as it unfolds.

Update: TMZ is reporting that West was at the house of his trainer, Harley Pasternak, and “acting erratically” while being checked out by a visiting physician. Police responded to a call for the sake of his welfare and upon their arrival West seemed slightly more relaxed albeit reluctant to seek further treatment, but was eventually convinced by his team to go to the hospital. He was handcuffed to a gurney and transported by paramedics.

Kim Kardashian West has reportedly chosen not to attend the Angel Ball event in New York City and is suspected to be flying to LA
