Clegane Bowl, people. This is it. This is the one we’ve been waiting for. We thought it was going to happen towards the end of season six in a trial by combat between Cersei and the Faith. Cersei would be championed by Zombie Mountain, Gregor Clegane, and the Faith would be championed by his brother, Sandor. As we all know now, that’s not what happened. Cersei skipped the trial altogether and blew the Faith directly to hell.
But that doesn’t mean the Clegane Bowl is dead. Rory McCann (the Hound) and Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (the Mountain) were both spotted in Seville — as seen in these photos here and here. Promising stuff if you ask me. While the chance of a trial by combat might be gone, that doesn’t mean the Cleganes won’t cross paths at some point. Sandor has a deep hatred for his brother Gregor, and it would be foolish of Game Of Thrones to not resolve that conflict. And based on these latest rumors, it looks like we will see their reunion this season in a particularly wild scene:
Via Watchers on the Wall:
There are 17 confirmed characters present at the massive Dragonpit scene: Cersei Lannister, Jaime Lannister, Qyburn, Gregor Clegane, Bronn of the Blackwater, Euron Greyjoy, Daenerys Targaryen, Tyrion Lannister, Jorah Mormont, Missandei, Varys, Theon Greyjoy, Jon Snow, Davos Seaworth, Brienne of Tarth, Podrick Payne, and Sandor Clegane. There may even be more to come! Nothing like this has happened in Game of Thrones ever before. The closest the show got was when the cast was much smaller and two thirds of it came together at Winterfell in the very first episode. Not even the Purple Wedding comes close. This scene promises to be eventful…
For those who need to get their GoT weight up, the dragonpit is a vault in King’s Landing where the Targaryens used to keep their dragons. It’s one of the few major locations the show has yet to show us. Considering that all of these major characters have all been spotted at this epic location, expect some serious fireworks.
God, we can’t wait for this show to come back.
