Will Cleveland rock for the second time in five months?
After losing two of three games at Wrigley, it’s do-or-die for the Cubbies as the Indians will look to close out Chicago tonight in Game 6 of the World Series. Chicago will throw last year’s Cy Young winner, Jake Arrieta, against Cleveland’s Josh Tomlin.
What Cleveland did in Chicago this past weekend was downright impressive. Wrigley Field was rocking all weekend, which was a surprise to none because it was the first World Series appearance for the Cubs since 1945. Despite losing Game 5, Cleveland was able to win Games 3 and 4 and are now one win away from winning their first World Series in 68 years. Like the plan has been all series for the Indians, if they get to their bullpen with a lead, the game is virtually over. Andrew Miller is pitching like he’s Mariano Rivera, setting the record for most strikeouts by a reliever with 29. Cody Allen is no slouch either as he leads the postseason with six saves. If the Tribe can get an early lead tonight and get to their bullpen, Cleveland will once again become a city of winners.
Despite being down 3-2 and on the verge of elimination, the Cubs still have a shot to force a Game 7, which is all they can ask for at this point. The bats awoke in Game 5 so Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo will look to get on the scoreboard early to avoid Cleveland’s bullpen. Arrieta is no rookie when it comes to pitching in big games. He won Game 2 of this series and will look to show the Indians why he won the Cy Young last year. Perhaps the biggest lift for the Cubs will be the return of Kyle Schwarber to the lineup. In the first two games as the DH, Schwarber batted three for seven with two RBI and provided a much-needed boost to the Cubs lineup. If the Cubs are going to win tonight, the offense needs to show up in a big way.
Will Cleveland continue its magical year as a city? Can the Cubs force Game 7, where anything can happen? Let’s take a look at how to watch Game 6 tonight!
