Donald Trump is an unprecedented presidential candidate in just about every way, and today he made more history by being the first major party nominee to be recorded talking about trying to f**k someone else’s wife.

In a video taken in 2005- 3 months after his marriage to Melania- and uncovered by the Washington Post, Trump can be heard bantering vulgarly about women with Access Hollywood‘s Billy Bush.

In addition to talking about a failed attempt at wooing the unnamed married lady, the two remark on the attractiveness of Arianne Zucker, the soap opera actress who is set to greet them. “I’ve gotta use some tic tacs, just in case I start kissing her,” Trump says. “You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait.”

In his crudest remark, Trump says, “And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the p***y. You can do anything,”

The Donald responded to the uncovering of the video by saying the comments were “locker room banter” and that he apologizes “if anyone was offended.”

I don’t think this is the type of thing that’s going to change the minds of too many voters, because if someone’s bothered by this then they’re probably already repulsed by the myriad questionable things Trump has publicly said regarding women. And while what he says surely isn’t befitting of a president, it was recorded over a decade ago without his knowing.

But this serves as yet another reminder why- Republican primary voters, I’m looking at you- nominating a blander politician with some dignity a la Mitt Romney in 2012 would have been a better option than going with a guy who’s been famous for decades mostly for being a self-aggrandizing jackass.
