Marvel To Turn Album Art Of Action Bronson, Schoolboy Q & More Into Variant Comic Covers

Marvel comics album covers

The artists at Marvel Comics churn out awesome comic book cover art all the times, and these just-announced variant covers of rap albums certainly fit the bill.  Among the rappers whose artwork has been reimagined are Action Bronson, Schoolboy Q, and Tyler, The Creator.

Action Bronson & Alchemist’s Rare Chandeliers mixtape was transformed into Solo AKA James Bourne produced by Omega Strike (above). Solo is a counter-terrorism agent in the Marvel comic universe.

Schoolboy Q’s Blank Face LP was the inspiration for Doctor Strange and The Sorcerers Supreme. Doctor Strange is the main protagonist in an upcoming titular film coming in November starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

Tyler, The Creator’s Goblin was turned into Rocket Raccoon. Rocket is a member of The Guardians Of The Galaxy, who is voiced by Bradley Cooper in the movies.

The pioneering female rapper MC Lyte’s Lyte as a Rock was remade as a Great Lakes Avengers cover in an issue called Great as a Lake. This might be the best of the bunch.

And lastly, the infamous Insane Clown Posse’s The Great Milenko album cover was transfigured into Foolkiller.

It’s cool to see Marvel tap into the much overlooked intersection between fans of hip hop and comic books. There are seemingly unlimited album covers to choose from, so let’s hope Marvel continues to release these variant hip-hop based comic book covers.
