Raiders vs. Falcons: Date, Kickoff Time, TV Channel & Preview

Raiders vs Falcons kickoff, Raiders vs Falcons

It isn’t often that the Atlanta Falcons and Oakland Raiders get together on the football field. The two teams will square off for the first time in four years on Sunday afternoon during Week 2 of the 2016 season. The two teams will be looking to build off of opening week successes as Atlanta tries to get their first win and Oakland attempts to move to 2-0 for the season during this battle of young quarterbacks. Here is a look at the matchup.

The Falcons lost 31-24 at home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Matt Ryan passed for 334 yards and two touchdowns while finding running back Tevin Coleman out of the backfield five times for 95 yards. It is a clear committee in the backfield with Coleman and Devonta Freeman while Coleman leading the way with 22 yards on the ground last week. Atlanta needs a much better effort on the ground if they are going to win this game on the road. The defense also has to slow down Derek Carr after giving up four touchdown passes through the air last week in a loss to Tampa Bay.

The Raiders took a chance and used a late two-point conversion to beat the New Orleans Saints 35-34. Carr threw for 319 yards and a touchdown. Amari Cooper was targeted 11 times and had six catches for 137 yards. Carr loves looking for Cooper in the pass game and Oakland has a real chance to win the AFC West this season if they can continue their winning ways. The run game needs to work on getting better however as Latavius Murray had just 59 yards on the ground on 14 carries and needs Murray to rush more often and solidly. The defense will have the challenge of dealing with Julio Jones and his height.
