Zakaria Bulhan, a 19-year old male Norwegian national of Somali origin, from South London, has been arrested on suspicion of murder in the Russell Square stabbing attack in London. Bulhan moved to Tooting, South London, from Norway in 2002. An American woman in her sixties was killed, and five others were injured. Zakaria Bulhan is now in custody at a South London police station.
According to BBC, Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley said police believed it was a spontaneous attack and that the victims were selected at random. Rowley indicated that so far their investigation has found no evidence of terrorism and that it is becoming increasingly likely that the attack was a result of mental health issues. However, many people are Twitter are scoffing at the suggestion that this attack was the result of mental health, and not terrorism.
According to the Daily Mail, Bulhan was a ‘quiet, shy pupil who was bullied at his London secondary school.’ His former friends from Graveney School in Tooting, south London, have now revealed how Chelsea supporter Bulhan was a quiet boy who was bullied in the early stages of secondary school. One friend said: ‘He was quite quiet, but had friends. He was a little bullied but nothing too extreme’ and that she was ‘shocked’ to see his name linked to the murder.
