Knee Deep Brewing Company’s Hoptologist DIPA is What’s on Tap!

Hoptologist Beer Review

Every now and then I will get a craft beer shopping list from friends and family that includes various North Carolina craft beers and beers that are only available in NC as opposed to the states where the orderers are from. This week as I was shopping I picked up some bottles of a brewery that makes great West Coast style IPAs; this week Knee Deep Brewing Company’s Hoptologist Double Indian Pale Ale is What’s on Tap.

One of my favorite breweries that I do not drink enough of, Knee Deep is known for their boldd West Coast style IPAs. What I love about Hoptlologist are the huge piny and citrusy flavors – which are due to the hops that are used in the beer – that are very well balanced throughout the sip. And with Hoptologist being a double IPA the bitterness really show through on the backend of each sip; get ready for some serious “hop mouth” (which is a good thing!)

Yes, there are a lot of breweries making double IPAs but what impresses me about Hoptologist is the subtle flavors and qualities of it; the slight malt backbone that allows for a hint of sweetness and the different citrus flavors – I get a lot of orange. This beer pairs great with hot wings which allows for the spiciness and the hop qualities to balance each other throughout the meal!

Cheers!
