Erik Burkhardt, once Johnny Manziel’s agent, has dropped Johnny Football as a client following new allegations the NFL player may have threatened his girlfriend Colleen Crowley with a murder-suicide.
Although these allegations haven’t been proven, this is the last in a long line of stories and rumors regarding the once-promising football player out of Texas A&M. Erik’s decision and statement was re-tweeted by Darren Rovell:
Erik works for Select Sports Group, which Forbes.com ranked the #10 most valuable NFL agency. According to that ranking, Select has $340 million under contract.
Here’s some background on the guy, via SportingNews:
A current NFLPA Certified Contract Advisor with Houston-based Select Sports Group, Burkhardt always had multiple career interests growing up besides the sports agency industry. The selling point came when a few college buddies at Texas Tech University asked for assistance in their agent selection process.
