Western Illinois University has predicted the next president of the United States, and their prophecy holds some weight.
The college has correctly prognosticated each president of the United States since 1975, and they’re making a big statement this year. According to a recent mock election, the 45th U.S. president will be Democrat Bernie Sanders, with former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley as Sanders’ VP.
Thousands of students took part in the mock election, which included simulating the entire election process; Iowa Caucuses, state primaries, nominating conventions, and the Electoral College vote.
In WIU’s mock election, Sanders garnered more than 400 Electoral College votes against a Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio ticket. The latter only earned 114.
In terms of popular vote, Sanders beat Clinton in 22 out of 26 primary states.
So what’s the deal – do you agree with their prediction? Or is this total bullsh*t? You tell us.
