Weird people, rejoice! You’re gonna get laid sooner than you think.
According to a new study in the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, being a nonconformist – or as us smart people say, “weird” – makes you more attractive to the opposite gender.
Researchers had a bunch of people check out dating sites and essentially pick out who they’d like to bone. They also asked them to describe their ideal partners and picture dates with people they had just met.
They found that both men and women preferred a partner who didn’t conform, whether through clothing, life choices, or general opinions.
According to Metro,
The researchers say this goes to show that the old stereotype of what men like – the submissive, girl-next-door type – just isn’t true.
They’re now urging women to let their freak flag fly a bit. The study’s lead author says: ‘I’m intrigued by the notion of the “girls-night-out” and how many women feel as though they can be more unguarded without men around – more relaxed, more crass, more honest, more funny.
‘And I keep thinking, ‘Why are you keeping this good stuff to yourselves? Men would love it!’
We’re curious to see what exactly their definition of “normal” is, but whatever! Let’s get weird.
