Coronado Brewing Company's Idiot IPA Is What's On Tap

Unfortunately, fall is right around the corner which means that people will soon be pounding pumpkin brews and Oktoberfest Märzens. I’m trying to hang on to the last little bit of summer by drinking refreshing hoppy and citrus-style IPAs filled with bitterness. This weekend I am enjoying a very refreshing Imperial IPA by Coronado Brewing Company. This weekend Idiot IPA is What’s on Tap!

Brewing just outside of the San Diego Bay, Coronado Brewing Company is a typical West Coast brewing company that has pushed the West Coast IPA-style East. But what sets Coronado apart is the consistency of all of their craft beers; all are drinkable and very good. However my favorite is Idiot IPA.

As I raise the beer to my lips I am getting huge fruit and citrus notes; there is a cantaloupe sweetness smell that accompanies the usual citrus notes of grapefruit and lemon/lime; even before tasting my mouth is watering. Each sip is filled with the same citrus profile but combined with a sweet malty-ness and a solid bitter finish. Yes, hops are present but the citrusy notes and flavors are at the forefront of my palate; and I am not complaining!

Idiot IPA is a brew that looks and tastes like a beach resort; golden in color and full of tropical fruit flavor that leaves your mouth with just a bit of dryness. This weekend I am grilling whole chickens with a blacken-like-rub on the outside. I am not marinating the chicken hoping the rub will spice up the chicken skin but the meat will remain juicy. This weekend savor the remaining summer by drinking an Idiot IPA!

Cheers!
