The Assassin’s Creed franchise doesn’t seem to be running out of steam anytime soon. Ubisoft confirmed the upcoming release of Assassin’s Creed Rogue with a Nov. 11th release date and a trailer.
It took awhile to get an official confirmation out of the video game giant. According to Gamespot, the news started to trickle in with small chunks of evidence that seemed to confirm that a new game was on the way. A game store posted a listing offering pre-orders for the new Assassin’s Creed game. Then some screenshots of the game made their way to the web followed by a full, unofficial trailer. Ubisoft either conducted a brilliant, covert marketing strategy to make the fans think they were seeing some unreleased footage of their new game or someone very crafty managed to get all this stuff out on the Internet and forced Ubisoft’s hands to just confirm everything.
The new trailer features yet another assassin walking through some barren landscape with his weapons drawn. This time, however, he approaches a fellow assassin who has fallen. It sounds like we’ve got a betrayal story with this one and this time, you are the betrayer. Check out the now confirmed trailer for the new game below in the embedded video…
The Assassin’s Creed may have a lot of fans but they’ve produced so many that we were worried that they might start hitting a stale patch. At least this is a promising twist that we may not be getting the same old game where stabbing people in the neck with a retractable blade might lose its appeal.
