P.J. Tucker signed a three year, $16.5 million contract with the Phoenix Suns in July. While that may not seem important, he is lucky to still have that contract after being sentenced to three days in jail (and 11 days home detention) after pleading guilty to a “super extreme” DUI. Tucker wasn’t just drunk, people. He was completely blitzed.
Tucker’s blood alcohol level was, in fact, .22. That’s nearly three times over the legal limit. It’s kind of amazing that Tucker isn’t dead. What on earth was he drinking before he went out driving that May 10 night in Scottsdale? He is lucky that he didn’t seriously hurt someone along the way and he nearly fell down during the field sobriety test after getting pulled off.
The Suns were obviously aware of what happened when they gave him the contract and still kept him. Tucker had better be grateful to the Suns for the rest of his life–let alone the reminder of his career. In a statement released by Tucker, he said “I will not let you down” to the Suns organization. Hopefully, Tucker isn’t referring to drinking games.
