Guardians of the Galaxy finally delivered the kind of epic blockbuster that movie fans expect during the summer movie season. So the folks at Cinefix’s Homemade Movies couldn’t resist giving the movie’s trailer the homemade treatment.
This time, they put together sets and costumes made entirely out of paper to retell the story of Peter Quill aka Star-Lord’s epic quest to get in as much trouble as possible before he’s tasked with saving the entire galaxy. These remakes must take a hell of a lot of work, especially when you’re trying to recreate a digital fantasy world that once only existed on two-dimensional paper. So they did a shot-for-shot remake of the big reveal trailer that showed all of the Guardians in action including Groot, Rocky Raccoon, Drax, Gamora and Star-Lord (that’s right, we call him Star-Lord because we believe in respecting our heroes the way they’d like to be respected).
It’s an impressive remake for something that’s only made out of strips of paper and cardboard. There’s no way anyone in their right mind could mistake one for the other unless Marvel Studios really skimped on the special effects budget in the wake of a struggling economy. We would say that we’re excited to see what other summer movies they are going to remake next but there really isn’t a bigger hit on our radar yet besides Guardians of the Galaxy. We’re kind of glad that Sex Tape bombed now because a paper version of that would probably hurt to remake.
