Lollapalooza 2014 wrapped up last night, and we Chicagoans could use some of this Lolla mojo all year long, as this ended up being the least violent weekend in the city all summer. Nevertheless, the annual festival went off without a hitch, and some of the best acts truly were saved for last. [photo: Theo Wargo/Getty Images]
Kings of Leon, a band with a notoriously prickly live performance past, was selected to close out the festival. That’s an incredible honor, and one for which they rose to the occasion, playing a nearly two hour set that included a three-song encore that you can see below. Their encore consisted of “Crawl” with a full orchestra, a cover of Robyn’s “Dancing on my Own,” and finally “Sex on Fire”…
The Avett Brothers have officially graduated to the big time, occupying the pre-Kings of Leon spot on the Samsung Galaxy stage last night. During their seventy five minute set, they played a bunch of their hits, but it was their 2006 hit “Colorshow” that brought down the house….
Community star Donald Glover brought his hip hop alter ego Childish Gambino to the Bud Light stage just before Skrillex closed it out, and with this freestyle encore, Glover proved that he’s as serious an artist as he is an actor….
And finally, speaking of Skrillex, his entire set was live streamed, so fans should definitely check this one out….
