Johnny Manziel brings up a lot of emotions with people. For collectible owners, it means trying to get their hands on anything that has Manziel’s name on it. Those people will get a special opportunity as an auction house announced Monday that it has obtained Manziel’s home jersey for the 2012 season where he won the Heisman Trophy.
SCP Auctions is expecting a winning bid of around $100,000 for the signed jersey that has all of Manziel’s stats written on the back from that season. The same jersey was on eBay in May, with the owner looking for over $300,000 –so obviously no one wanted to pay that much. It is a piece of Texas A&M history, however, and is going to appeal to some kind of Aggies fan.
The auction will be taking place from Aug. 6-23. $100,000 may be a lot of money to pay for a jersey but it is quite possible that some collector is hoping that Manziel can parlay his huge college career into a Hall of Fame NFL career where the jersey may be worth much, much more. Many will be wondering how much the actual selling price will be when the auction ends in just under a month.
