Another reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is heading to the theaters soon. It may have strayed a bit from the source material, and we’re still thinking that the trailers might be all that we need to see here–but the makers of the new film haven’t forgotten what the made original franchise so great: rap songs about turtles.

A new TV commercial for the movie heading to theaters on August 8th features a new song recorded just for the movie by rappers Wiz Khalifa, Juicy J and Ty Dolla $ign called Shell Shocked. It also shows a bit more footage from the movie with the team’s co-stars Megan Fox and Will Arnett, a heavily armored Shredder and even some fleeting shots of Master Splinter throwing down against his arch rival. Check it out below in the embedded video…

Say what you will about the new movie, and the fact that Michael Bay is behind it, or even the fact that it almost ignores the origins that made it such a storied and beloved story in the first place. Rapping about ninja turtles is just getting close to a line we really shouldn’t cross. It took us years to get the repetitive sounds of “Go ninja go ninja go ninja go” out of our heads since the movie theater subjected us to a Vanilla Ice cameo in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze.

Now we’ve got a whole new rap song that’s about to get crammed in there. Granted, Wiz Khalifa and company are way more talented than the likes of Vanilla Ice. So at least this time, the madness in our brains will have a better soundtrack.
