Someone running the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Water Twitter feed is also a big fan of Kim Kardashian’s new mobile video game because it sent out a Tweet update about their game’s progress.
The update went out sometime Monday evening announcing that the person running the account is “now a C-List celebrity in Kim Kardashian: Hollywood.“ It was eventually taken down but it stayed up long enough for the Internet to grab a bunch of screenshots of the Tweet…
The Tweet caused a bit of a mini-panic probably because some people were worried that a Kardashian is now in charge of keeping all of our water clean. So far, no one at the EPA has an explanation or even a response to the bizarre Tweet but it’s pretty obvious what happened. Someone was playing the new Kim Kardashian game on their cell phone and accidentally linked up the app with their Twitter account and either the player or the game sent out an update on the player’s progress to the EPA Twitter account. It’s nice to know that government officials are spending their time and our dime so wisely.
What’s even worse is that they couldn’t find a better game to play than some cookie cutter fame sim to promote someone who we’re still not entirely sure why they are so famous. Something tells me that the backlash would have gone a lot smoother if someone caught them playing something with a bit more intelligence like Words With Friends or the Luminosity app. Then again, you don’t have to be all that smart to get a government job.
