There are some minor league promotions that go over the top. However, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans are preparing general manager Andy Milovich for one of the best ones around. Milovich will get a prostate exam while singing “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” if 10-year-old Fallon Emery, who has brain cancer, gets 10,000 likes on her Facebook page before Thursday at Noon Eastern time.
The Pelicans, who are the Single-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, were already planning to give out 1,000 foam fingers with blue ribbons to the first 1,000 men over 18 in attendance during a prostate cancer awareness night. However, Milovich has taken it to the next level and there is nothing wrong with that. The team is raising money for Emery in many different ways and this is their idea of get more support for Emery’s cause.
As of 8 am Eastern on Monday, Emery’s Facebook page has 8,600 likes. It shouldn’t be that hard to get another 1,400 likes in three days. Milovich is going to help out a lot of people in the process and there aren’t very many feel good stories like that out there. It won’t feel good for Milovich at the time but it will be well worth it.
