Director JJ Abrams released yet another set leak from Star Wars VII presumably in the hopes of beating all the spies that are blanketing his production. This time, he gave us our first look at the X-Wing.
Abrams released a video as part of the “Force for Change” campaign to raise money for UNICEF by offering chances to win visits to the movie’s set, early viewings of the movie and even an on-screen role in the new film. Abrams’ last video featured a wide shot of the new X-Wing fighter that looks like it got an upgrade from the previous models that we’ve grown accustomed to in the last six Star Wars movies. If you’re curious to see how the new space dogfighter looks, check it out below in the embedded video…
This video comes on the heels of a big exclusive over at Badass Digest of a rumored plot leak regarding Star Wars VII and it’s a little disturbing. For starters, the opening shot of the endlessness of space following the iconic scroll crawl features a severed hand gripping a lightsaber. Come on, JJ. This is Star Wars, not Dead Space.
The severed hand then introduces us to some of the characters that we’ll be following for the rest of the new trilogy. That leads them to meet Han Solo and Chewbacca and we learn that the severed hand may belong to Jedi Master Luke Skywalker who lost it with a battle with Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back. That leads them to go in search of the long lost Jedi Master. We’re sure there is more to the plot than just a super long “Where’s Luke?” style plot or at least, there better be more to it than that.
