The NFL Draft has been held in New York City for a very long time–but when the 2015 draft comes along, it will be finding a new home. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said on Thursday that the draft will be held in either Chicago or Los Angeles next year. It ends a long affiliation between the league and New York along with Radio City Music Hall, which didn’t have any available dates. It will be a different experience next year.
Chicago has the United Center as a potentially perfect location, while Los Angeles would likely use the Staples Center. The biggest thing though is that Chicago actually has a NFL team unlike Los Angeles so it would be quite odd to have the draft there without a team. The league would love to see another team head out to LA but that isn’t happening anytime soon.
Chicago is likely going to end up winning this competition and getting one of the biggest events on the NFL calendar to be held either April 22-25 or April 29-May 2 for a four-day draft one way or another. Fans are likely going to flock to whether the draft is at though. A decision is expected by the end of the summer.
