J.K. Rowling just published a new Harry Potter story called “Dumbledore’s Army Reunites,” which is about a 34-year-old Harry who’s attending the Quidditch World Cup final with his two kids. That’s a big surprise. You can buy it at Pottermore.com, too–but that’s not going to be easy for a while, because Pottermore just became the most popular website in the history of the planet. [UPDATE: NBC has the story on their Today website]
Anyway, “Dumbledore’s Army Reunites” is a pretty cool short piece that’s officially written by a reporter named Rita Skeeter. She write a gossip column for The Daily Prophet, and goes into a lot of detail about the crowd at the Quidditch World Cup. Rowling (as Skeeter) has actually been posting regular stories at Pottermore about that big event–but the latest is the first to include a now-greying Harry, plus his wife Ginny Weasley. She’s covering the World Cup as a reporter. Hermione’s also in attendance, along with her hsuband Ron, who’s the proud co-manager of Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes.
There’s also Neville Longbottom, and that should all be enough to get even more fans desperate to check out Rowling’s return to her beloved characters. This is certainly the most unexpected new development since Beyoncé came out of nowhere with a new album. And you can learn more about what Rowling has to say in this article that just broke–but the biggest spoiler is that she’s saying this is the only time that she’ll be checking in on the grown characters again.
