Lindsay Lohan’s lawyers filed a lawsuit against Rockstar Games, the studio behind the wildly successful Grand Theft Auto V, over a character that they claim is a direct copy of their client.
Lohan claims that the minor character Lacey Jonas illegally uses her image and likeness in the game to create the character. The lawsuit described the similarities as “unequivocal.” Lohan claims that the makers of the game appropriated her voice, image and even her clothing style for the character without first seeking Lohan’s permission. The lawsuit did not specify a settlement but considering that the game made more than $800 million on its release day, we’re assuming she wants at least a good chunk of that pie for starters.
If you haven’t played the game, here’s a quick breakdown of the video game’s character. Jonas is a spoiled, celebrity brat who players happen upon in a ritzy, upscale neighborhood as she’s being hounded by paparazzi. She asks one of the game’s main characters to escort her away from the photographers’ camera lenses without harming them and bring her home safe and sound. She also appears to have an eating disorder and she isn’t that bright since she claims that all of her fans “could fill the entire country of Africa.” So in order for Lohan to win, she has to prove that she’s a ditzy, anorexic moron. We’d probably do the same if there were millions of dollars on the line. Here’s a clip of the game’s character and the main mission that features her…
Here’s another weird coincidence. Today is Lohan’s 28th birthday. It sounds like someone is trying to net herself a really big and expensive birthday present.
